Visual pre-selected individual clones of fungus-resistant new varieties are subjected to phytosanitary tests mainly for virus diseases. Plants which prove to be pathogen-free, are used for establishing progagation plots. In parallel these clones were transferred in vitro which excludes a re-infection and enables a rapid propagation of healthy plant material in case of necessity. Activities are focused on the newbred Regent, which is in the meantime highly accepted by growers and further on three new breeding lines, which are applied for variety protections.
