In the project anticoagulant resistance of rodents and non-target species is examined. Better knowledge about the distribution of resistance is necessary for the management of the rodents. As soon as resistance occurs in rodents, second generation of anticoagulants must be used to guarantee a successful management. Due to their higher toxicity compared to other anticoagulants they should only be used in case of resistance to mitigate the risk for environment and non-target species. Additionally, by screening non-target species effects of rodenticides within the food web are investigated. The distribution of resistance is also examined on an international scale through collaborations with other research institutes from e.g. Denmark and Finland.
