Overall objective of the project

The joint project "Junior research group medicinal plants – practical research for competitiveness consolidation of German medicinal plants growing and support of academic junior staff" focuses on economical relevant characters for the medicinal plant species St. John’s wort and anise. Furthermore, general urgent tasks are addressed for phytopathological problems of different species of medicinal plants. The use of potential bioactive secondary metabolites will be screened for aspects of plant protection especially for fungicidal action. Additional to the creation of new gene pools with better characteristics and new results for important pathogens and the use of selected secondary metabolites for pesticides the education and training of junior scientists is important for growing of medicinal plants.
