Molecular markers for powdery mildew resistance have led to a significant increase in breeding efficiency. The first QTL have been identified for resistance to black rot, but there are currently no closely linked markers for use in marker-assisted selection (MAS) in practical breeding. The project aims to characterize the identified QTL on the basis of the available knowledge in order to recruit markers for MAS from the data.
