Overall objective of the project

In the research and development project a monitoring- and data management system for detection and evaluation of pests and their antagonists as well as sub-optimal climate conditions in potted plants and container cultivation of ornamental crops is developed. Monitoring is carried out by checkpot swarms. These checkpots consist of small sticky traps combined with smart image processing, climate sensors and transmitters that pass monitoring data automatically to a server based decision support platform. All technical components are integrated in an standard pot size which enables checkpots to pass through all cultivation processes including transport, the same way as a potted plant does. This way, a continuous and workable monitoring in intensive crops becomes possible.
