Overall objective of the project

“RNAi_safe” pursues a methodological approach to answer open questions about the sage use of RNAi technology in plant protection. The project aims at detecting and evaluating potential exposure pathways and effects of dsRNA-based plant protection products on target organisms (long-term effects), crops (secretion, depot formation) and the extended food web (off-target organisms). Further, it will help in developing expertise to evaluate methods for assessing plant protection products, using RNAi technology as mode of action. Finally, existing methods for assessing dsRNA-based plant protection products in the risk assessment will be developed and evaluated.
