Overall objective of the project

The interdisciplinary project WheatFACE aims to gain new insights into the influence of increasing CO2 concentrations on the extent and intensity of infection of wheat with brown rust and ear fusarium, biology of the pathogens, plant development as well as corresponding development of resistance. The aim is to identify necessary adaptation measures to future climatic and environmental conditions and to put them into practice. For this purpose, greenhouse experiments as well as field trials with a Free Air Carbondioxide Enrichment (FACE) system will be carried out.
