Overall objective of the project

The aim of RustHealth is, on the one hand, a deeper understanding of the plant-pathogen interactions for yellow rust and brown rust in wheat enabling to use resistances sustainably for stable wheat production with reduced crop protection representing an important contribution to the implementation of the "Green Deal". On the other hand, a library of donors for stem rust resistance will be built and characterised genetically. This is a prerequisite to react quickly by resistance breeding to a spectrum of diseases that has changed due to climate change.
