Overall objective of the project

The main goal of PrimedPlant is to harness the priming capacity of barley using soil microorganisms. To achieve this goal, we will utilize the genetic diversity of barley and the functional diversity of the rhizosphere microbiome. Recent research shows that soil microorganisms trigger priming in plants. Since these plants, better than naïve plants, defend against pathogen attack, our goal here is to exploit this natural property of barley and combine it with the priming-triggering ability of plant-associated microorganisms.
