Overall objective of the project

The aim of this project is to control phytoplasmas found in pome fruits by selecting phytoplasma resistant rootstocks. The offspring of crossings (genotypes, apple rootstocks) or selections of different Pyrus Taxa (pear rootstocks) are evaluated by long-term observations on level and durability of resistance, the relationship of phytoplasma concentration to resistance, and on grotwh and yield of trees grown on selected offspring (open land and inoculation studies). Cooperation with Al planta, RLP AgroScience GmbH, Neustadt/W. (in vitro culture and generation of ex vitro plants of resistant genotypes) and JKI, ZO (long-term preservation of selected resistant rootstocks, application of varieties (rootstocks).
