Overall objective of the project

The aim of the KARO project is the regionally specific further development of existing production systems in plant cultivation in their regional context. The interaction of climatic, plant cultivation, phytosanitary and environmental risks is considered, which is subsumed in the business economic risk. The basis is an integrative model-based analysis and evaluation of the effects, trade-offs and synergies of different cropping strategies and practices at the landscape level under future climate conditions. The project is accompanied by an intensive science-practice dialogue and co-design process with regional stakeholders. The results will be made available, among other things, through demonstration projects and an online tool to be further developed in the project for the field-specific ecological and economic evaluation of the methods.
