Leafroll disease was spread worldwide with grapevine and is considered one of the most important grapevine viroses. The viruses of the family Closteroviridae associated with the disease are described as 'Grapevine Leafroll associated Virus' (GLRaV) and are transmitted from vine to vine by scale insects. In recent years it has been found that there is sometimes considerable spread of the disease within vineyards and that scale insect vectors were also more frequent than usual. In a previous project, selectively acting PPPs could be identified whose application may explain the mass propagation of the vectors. Therefore, in the present project, the role of plant protection products on the natural regulation of scale insect vectors in German viticulture is to be investigated and, on this basis, an assessment of the side effects of the usual PPPs in viticulture is to be made. The aim is to create a basis for advisory services, viticultural practice and planting material propagation that will enable the integrated management of these vectors.
