The project focuses on the transregional transport and fate of pesticide active substances in water bodies. Based on the findings of previous studies of pesticide contamination in small water bodies of the agricultural landscape by JKI-ÖPV within the framework of the National Action Plan for Plant Protection (NAP), the distribution and supraregional transport of ubiquitously distributed and ecotoxicologically relevant active substances will be investigated. In cooperation with the Helmholtz Environmental Research Centre (UFZ), a sampling of the Elbe river along its length from Schmilka (German-Czech border) to the North Sea will be carried out. The flow-time-conform sampling takes place at 9 stations of the river Elbe, as well as at the mouths of the four largest tributaries. In the Tidal Elbe and the German Bight, sampling takes place with the drift of the river plume. Besides gaining conclusions about the supraregional fate and transport of pesticides, but also to enables us to do a method comparison with the multi-methods of the UFZ.
