Overall objective of the project

In Saxony, the majority of water bodies do not achieve good ecological status in accordance with the Ordinance on Surface Waters (OGewV). A key reason for this could be the pesticide contamination of the water bodies, which cannot be represented in this way with an assessment based on EQS exceedances in accordance with the OGewV. Only 11 of the currently approved pesticide active substances have a ZHK-UQN in the OGewV. In the project proposed here, a study to determine the chemical and biological pollution status of small standing water bodies in the agricultural landscape of Saxony is to be carried out for the first time. The assessment of possible findings is based on environmental quality standards (EQS) in accordance with the OGewV and regulatory acceptable concentrations (RAK) from the approval procedure for plant protection products.
