Overall objective of the project

The goal of EUFAWREADY is to empower European agricultural actors - farmers, advisors, technicians, industry and phytosanitary services - to enhance their preparedness for potential Fall Army Worm (FAW) outbreaks. It will provide tools for early detection and effective management of FAW in EU, minimizing the economic, environmental and social impact and the expected influx of synthetic pesticides into European agroecosystems. EUFAWREADY aims to provide EU Stakeholders with effective tools to manage the presence or potential arrival of FAW. The project brings together a diverse consortium, including academics from various disciplines, national plant health operators, a farmers' association, private companies, and biocontrol industries. This collective expertise will be harnessed to develop detection and control tools tailored to the needs of EU agriculture, with some solutions expected to be implementable by the project's end or shortly after. The consortium includes 25 partners from 14 countries, spanning four European (Greece, Portugal [Madeira], Spain [Canary Isl.], Romania) and three non- European countries (Israel, New Zealand, South Korea) already impacted by the FAW. This wide array of regions with different levels of infestation provides a real-world testing ground for EUFAWREADY solutions and tools.
