Institut für die Sicherheit biotechnologischer Verfahren bei Pflanzen
This interdisciplinary project brings together expertise from law, law enforcement, ethics, sociology, and agricultural science to analyze regulatory frameworks across the world – in particular of important trading partners for agricultural commodities, food, and feed products – identify best practices, and address key gaps. It examines socio-political narratives shaping NGT debates in countries like Germany, Switzerland, and the UK while evaluating economic and legal impacts on property rights and agricultural value chains. Ethical frameworks and innovation profiles will help to establish governance structures align with societal priorities. Additionally, innovative science communication strategies will enhance public understanding and stakeholder dialogue. The project aims to deliver policy recommendations, foster informed societal discourse, and support regulatory harmonization in the international context. Thereby it will contribute to a responsive and responsible governance of transformative biotechnologies.
