In the Institute for National and International Plant Health, a testing laboratory is established and maintained in the field of quarantine Mycology for the establishment of the National Reference Laboratory (NRL) for quarantine fungi. A quality management system will be established for the accreditation of reference testing or diagnosis of (quarantine) pests. The responsibilities and tasks of the NRL include cooperation with the European Reference Laboratory for fungi an Oomycete (EURL) and the national plant protection agencies (PPA), participation in proficiency tests and workshops of EURL, organization of proficiency tests and training for PPA, collection and verification of reference material. Accompanying research is necessary to establish test methods.
