The codling moth granulovirus (Cydia pomonella Granulovirus, CpGV) is an important biological control agent in organic and integrated fruit growing. It is produced by infecting live codling moth larvae, which replicate the virus. During the production process, it must be ensured that the desired isolate is replicated in the larvae. For quality analysis, genomic analysis techniques are used to distinguish between isolates. Based on the obtained genomic data, insights into the genetic stability, purity, and composition of CpGV during passages in the host are derived. In this project, the CpGV isolate V80 is being sequenced; this isolate is of particular scientific interest because it is the only CpGV isolate to date that overcomes a newly emerged CpGV resistance in Germany.
