Founded in 2019, the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Metabolomforschung (DGMet) connects scientists across Germany to drive cutting-edge metabolism research. It brings the community together through its annual conference, specialized workshops, and study groups, while the DGMet educational program supports knowledge and technology transfer across the field. Beyond research, DGMet actively represents metabolomics in national decision-making — ensuring our discipline gets the recognition it deserves.

During the last years, the annual meeting was growing further. In 2025, more than 100 scientists from Germany and beyond met at the Fraunhofer ITEM in Hanover spanning and integrating various topics such as plant metabolomics, pharmacy, medicinal and clinical research, bioinformatics and many more. The state-of-the-art research and its interdisciplinary character together with a familiar atmosphere make it a perfect platform to get in contact to colleagues, to generate ideas and to gain knowledge.

In 2026, the annual meeting will take place on October 8th – October 9th 2026 at the Julius Kühn Institute in Berlin Dahlem and is open for everybody! Keynote speakers will Marc Dumas (Imperial College), Sarela Garcia-Santamaría (Leipzig HKI), and Mustafa Bulut (IPB Halle). The DGMet board and the local hosts Jennifer Kirwan (Max Delbrück Center), Nicole van Dam (Leibniz Institute for Vegetable and Ornamental Crops) and Karin Gorzolka (Julius Kühn Institute) are looking forward to an exciting and inspiring meeting in Berlin.
