JKI is a Founding Member of the European Science Alliance for Agriculture and Food (ESAAF)

With the launch of the European Science Alliance for Agriculture and Food (ESAAF), the Julius Kühn Institute (JKI), together with four other renowned European research institutions, is sending a clear signal in support of science-based transformation processes in EU agricultural and food policy.

The alliance aims to actively help shape the transition to sustainable, resilient, and competitive agricultural and food systems, based on outstanding scientific research.

As a federal research institute with many years of expertise in plant breeding, plant protection, and crop production—especially in the development of resilient cropping systems—JKI contributes key scientific perspectives to the alliance.

Prof. Dr. Frank Ordon, President of the JKI, emphasizes:

“ESAAF is a scientific alliance that strategically brings together Europe’s leading research institutions to provide evidence-based foundations for advancing European agricultural and food systems. The Julius Kühn Institute is very pleased to be a founding member and to contribute its scientific expertise to this network in order to help drive important transformation processes forward.”

The founding institutions of ESAAF are:

 

  1. Aarhus University (AU) – Denmark
  2. INRAE – French National Research Institute for Agriculture, Food and the Environment – France
  3. Wageningen University & Research (WUR) – Netherlands
  4. Julius Kühn Institute (JKI) – Germany
  5. Warsaw University of Life Sciences (WULS) – Poland
