Think aloud! JKI scientists contribute to GFFA Science Slam on 18 January 2019

The science slam held on the Green Week opening day is a novelty at the Global Forum for Food and Agriculture (GFFA). Altogether five slam presentations are scheduled, two of them  given by JKI scientists. Ten minutes – that is the time available to Dr. Anna Kicherer (JKI Institute for Grapevine Breeding) and Jobst Gödeke (JKI Institute for Application Techniques in Plant Protection) to wow a mixed audience with a topic from their latest research. The topics are linked to the GFFA focus issue “Agriculture goes digital – smart solutions for future farming”. The important thing about the short 10-minute talks is not primarily the pure presentation of research outcome, but rather explaining science in an understandable and entertaining way. This matters even more since the jury will be the audience in the BMEL exhibition hall 23a, most of them probably non-experts in the topics they are listening to. Their votes decide who the winner is to be awarded a special BMEL prize.

The Global Forum for Food and Agriculture (GFFA) is held during the International Green Week in Berlin, where the Julius Kühn Institute is also one of the exhibitors in the BMEL special hall 23a  – for more information see JKI participates in International Green Week 2019

The 11th Global Forum for Food and Agriculture (GFFA) will be held in Berlin from 17th to 19th January 2019 on the subject "Agriculture Goes Digital – Smart Solutions for Future Farming”. The Global Forum for Food and Agriculture (GFFA) is an international conference that focuses on central questions concerning the future of the global agri-food industry.
