Tasks

• Evaluation of genetic resources (cereals, rapeseed) with regard to resistance against insect-transmitted viruses (Barley yellow dwarf virus-MAV, -PAV, Cereal yellow dwarf virus-RPV, Wheat dwarf virus (WDV))
• Evaluation of barley accessions for resistance to Polymyxa graminis-transmitted mosaic viruses (Barley mild mosaic virus, Barley yellow mosaic virus)
• Phenotypic characterization and genetic analysis of virus and vector resistance/tolerance as a basis for the development of molecular markers
• Observations on the current occurence of cereal viruses
• Maintenance of isolates of different cereal viruses as well as permanent rearing of Psammotettix alienus as a vector of WDV
