Tasks

Research Scientist at the intersection of geoinformatics, data science and precision agriculture, with focus on developing scalable, data-driven methods and high-performance web and data platforms for analysis and provision of environmental and agricultural data.

• Design and scientific management of research projects on spatial analyses, precision agriculture questions and model-driven risk indicators
• Development and enhancement of web applications, data platforms and APIs for provision, visualization and exploration of large (geo-)datasets
• Establishment and quality assurance of reproducible data pipelines and workflows (e.g., raster/vector data, database connectivity, machine learning) including documentation and best practices
• Method development and geoanalytics incorporating LiDAR and satellite data (e.g., DEM-based derivatives such as slope) as well as analysis of spatial patterns and uncertainties
• Integration and operation of modern GIS/WebGIS architectures (including COG, Data Cubes, Vector Tiles) and translation of scientific requirements into robust technical solutions
• Administration, operation and enhancement of CODE-DE and cloud/HPC infrastructure (deployment, monitoring, security/access management, resource management) for scaling data-intensive analyses
• Scientific communication and transfer: publications, conference contributions as well as preparation of results for ministries, authorities and practice partners (consulting, decision-making foundations, implementation)
