Ecology and conservation of biodiversity within aquatic systems of agricultural landscapes

Scientific execution of the small waterbody module of project MonViA: the nationwide monitoring of biodiversity in agricultural landscapes, which involves:

• application of JKI’s ecological status assessment and biodiversity monitoring concept in small standing water bodies of the agricultural landscape,
• evaluation of the impact of plant protection products and supplemental nutrients in adjacent fields upon the benthic invertebrate communities in ponds, and
• investigation of hydrological flow paths from agricultural fields into waterbodies and the protective role of riparian vegetation, using remote sensing techniques.
