Lina Dammel from JKI-BI has received a Travel Award from the Society for Invertebrate Pathology (SIP).
Lina Dammel received the award at the 58th Annual Meeting of the Society for Invertebrate Pathology, held from 2 to 6 August 2026 in ’s-Hertogenbosch (Den Bosch), the Netherlands. The international conference was held jointly with the 20th meeting of the IOBC-WPRS Working Group “Microbial and Nematode Control of Invertebrate Pests”.
Lina Dammel’s presentation, entitled “Genetic basis of baculovirus resistance in Cydia pomonella”, was part of the “When Insects (and Climate) Fight Back” session of the Microbial Control Division. Her research and presentation focus on the genetic basis of baculovirus resistance in the codling moth (Cydia pomonella).
The research is part of the German-Japanese collaborative project “Resistance management strategies of baculoviruses in biological plant protection”, jointly conducted by the JKI and the Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology (TUAT). As part of the project, Lina Dammel completed two-month research stay in 2025 in the research group of Professor Madoka Nakai at TUAT.
Through its Travel Awards, the SIP supports early-career scientists in attending its annual meeting. The awards are granted following evaluation of the submitted scientific abstracts by SIP reviewers.
Congratulations to Lina Dammel on this achievement!
