• Research on the diagnosis, epidemiology and control of quarantine pest insects on cultivated plants
• Development of molecular diagnostic methods for the identification and detection of (harmful) insects
• Elaboration and assessment of national and European regulations and standards on diagnostics and control of quarantine insect pests on cultivated plants
