Tasks

• Molecular biological and microscopic investigations on the quarantine pathogen and causal agent of potato wart disease, with the aim to develop innovative detection methods.
• Collaboration in the BMEL-funded joint project SYNergie: "Development and testing of practicable methods for inactivation and detection of the potato wart Synchytrium endobioticum in solid and liquid residues".
• Microscopic investigation on the viability of resting spores of Synchytrium endobioticum, using fluorescent dyes and confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM).
• Development of protocols for nucleotide-based detection and testing for viability of resting spores of potato wart disease.
