The concluding event of the three-year research project took place in Berlin at the end of October. Among other things, the project participants tested new peat substitutes for horticulture and evaluated various substrate compositions in economic and ecological terms.

A four-year project by JKI and Kiel University involving 15 farms in Lower Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt has shown that strip cropping can increase biodiversity with only slight reductions in yield. Researchers are investigating what incentives are needed in practice to establish the system in the long term.
