On May 29, the president of the agricultural research institution INIA in Uruguay visited the JKI in Berlin, accompanied by Ambassador Fernando López-Fabregat. Representatives of the JKI had already visited the INIA facilities in Uruguay in April 2024 as part of a delegation led by State Secretary Claudia Müller.

PLAN4BEE – planning the monitoring of African bees

Carpenter bee (Xylocopa) visits cucumber flower. Carpenter bees prefer warm climatic conditions, which is one reason for their mainly tropical and subtropical distribution.

In view of climate change, the international joint project coordinated at the JKI aims to promote the cultivation of fungus-resistant grape varieties (PIWIs). One focus of JKI vine breeding is Botrytis bunch rot.
