Forests are expected to be more affected by pests due to climate change, requiring adaptation strategies of forest hygiene and the development of integrated forest protection concepts. Moreover, the communication between economic and ecological stakeholders and the needs of society will have to be improved. By collecting forest data - in cooperation with the responsible federal state authorities - the nationwide forest condition is assessed and presented. Implications for forest protection are communicated to the BMEL, representatives of the forestry sector and the public.
