A further legal task of JKI is the scientific evaluation of the effectiveness of protection products during the EU approval of active agents and the registration of plant protection products, including biological plant protection preparations. Efficacy against pathogens, effects on the quality of plant products and the environment, and risks to develop resistance are evaluated. We further support other regulatory authorities in assessing the identity of microbial agents. This work serves as a basis for the registration of biopesticides.
