Inhalt: Material transfer

Delivery of propagation material

Scions (not trees) and strawberry plants can be offered based on  availability.

  • Requests for fruit tree scions have to be sent to the Institute for Breeding Research on Fruit Crops, Pillnitzer Platz 3a, 01326 Dresden; zo@  julius-kuehn.  de until October 31st.

    For distributing scions, special tests are necessary because of phytosanitary reasons (e.g. apple proliferation). To guarantee scheduled dispatch, later requests can not be considered.  The dispatch of the material will be realized unfree in February the following year.
  • Requests for strawberry plants have to be sent until March, 31st. The dispatch of the material will be realized unfree in August the same year. 

Please note: According to legal reasons plant material of cultivars having plant breeder’s right is excluded from distribution.

Material transfer for research, breeding and education purposes

The International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture was entered in force in the year 2004. The Contracting Parties to the Treaty have established a Multilateral System both to facilitate access to Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture and to share the benefits arising from the utilization of these resources. Approx. 60 species are included in the Annex I. Concerning fruit, apple and strawberry belong to these plant species.

The access under the Multilateral System shall be provided pursuant to the Standard Material Transfer Agreement (sMTA).

Please, use the form of the sMTA and fill in page 2 (name of the recipient), page 8 (name of the recipient and signature) and page 9 (list of material requested). 

After signing of the sMTA by the Head of the Institute for Breeding Research on Fruit Crops, a copy will be sent with the delivery of the material.
