Agroecological research addresses interactions between bees (honeybees, bumblebees, and other wild bees) and their environment at the population level. The goals are to protect and enhance bees in general by creating suitable habitats in agriculture, including horticulture, viticulture, and forestry, as well as in urban settlements.

Accordingly, the focus of agroecological research is on designing bee-friendly habitats and assessing the promotional effects of implementation measures such as:

• Temporal and spatial distribution of resources and props for bees in agricultural and urban landscapes.
• Influence of design and temporal/spatial dynamic disturbance of habitats and subhabitats, including ecotoxicological parameters, on health, performance, genetic exchange, and reproductive capacity of bee populations
• Improvement of bee protection by specific measures in agricultural, horticultural and forestry crops as well as by adaptive implementation measures in settlement areas.
