Reduction of plant protection products

Saving plant protection products

The use of equipment that saves plant protection products enhances water and environment protection.  Spraying with reduced application rates is not only ecologically but also economically reasonable.

Successfully tested equipment is registered in the descriptive list (register of loss reducing equipment, section reduction of plant protection product). Since the amount of saved plant protection product varies strongly with the treated crop, the equipment is not listed in class divisions. Hence the testing parameters, the testing area and the amount of saved products are listed for every model.

Testing and listing of plant protection equipment with the quality of reducing plant protection products is based on the JKI-directives 2-3.1 and 2-3.2.

For the current list of approved equipment please click on the link "Deutsch" to the German website and look at „Verlustmindernde Geräte - Pflanzenschutzmitteleinsparung“.

The reduction of plant protection products can be achieved by different technical configurations. With the help of a reception facility, part of the sprayed plant protection product is collected and runs back into the system. Compared to common equipment, the amount of plant protection product can be reduced by up to 30%. Another technical approach is sensor technology. By intelligent shutdown of the applying nozzle, the plant protection product arrives on the target area only.
