Assignments and Research Activities
Research associate in the group "Beneficial organisms and functional biodiversity" within the Euphresco network in the project "Preparedness in biological control of priority biosecurity threats". Within the international Euphresco project, potential future pests are to be identified and theoretical scenarios of their spread and the control with natural enemies respectively will be simulated. Furthermore, a network will be established within the project consortium to facilitate and promote the international exchange of information on pests and their natural enemies.
Main tasks and objectives:
- Identify possible future priority pests and the potential opportunities for biological control by natural enemies
- Analysis of existing methods of risk assessment for non-native biological control agents. Based on this, new recommendations will be developed
- By incorporating theoretical scenarios, the risk assessments for non-native biological control strategies will be evaluated
- Networking and information exchange between project partners
