Assignments and Research Activities
Research associate of the research group Microbiology and Bioengineering. The main task is the optimization of production and formulation of fungi specialized on nematodes as prey. These nematophagous fungi are potential candidates for the use as biocontrol agents against plant parasitic cyst nematodes of the genus Heterodera.
Participation in the project „MycoNem“: „Development of biological control strategies against plant-parasitic nematodes through the application of new fungal antagonists specifically isolated from nematode eggs“
- Evaluation of proliferation characteristics of nematophagous fungi
- Comparison of fermentation procedures for the production of nematophagous fungi
- Evaluation of optimal production parameters of nematophagous fungi
- Development of innovative processes for the formulation of a granule and liquid formulation of nematophagous fungi for the control of phytopathogenic nematodes in sugar beet
The MycoNem-project is carried out in cooperation with JKIs Institute for Epidemiology und Pathogen Diagnostics as well as with the German Helmholtz Centre for Infection Reserach and the company „e-nema“.
