In accordance with § 41 (3) Point 2 of the German Plant Protection Act (PflSchG) the Institute for Bee Protection assesses the risks and hazards to honey bees and all other commercially relevant pollinators in national, zonal risk assessment and approval procedures of plant protection products as well as in the European risk assessment of active substances. The required product-specific information of different laboratory and higher tier experiments are provided by GLP-certified test facilities. The applicant forwards these for review, further assessment and evaluation to the Institute. On the basis of all available information, the Institute finalizes the assessment and recommends setting corresponding requirements for a bee safe-use to the regulatory authority, the Federal Office of Consumer Protection and Food Safety (BVL).
