- development of sustainable strategies for plant-parasitic nematode control with particular focus on antagonistic microbes and (induced) plant resistance;
- morphological and molecular identification of plant-parasitic and free-living nematodes, taxonomical editing of important genera and species and their systematics;
- studies of the biology and epidemiology of significant plant-parasitic nematodes;
- professional assistance and advisory support in national and international committees;
- Curator of the German nematode collection.
