Tasks and Research Activities

  • Metabolite profiling of primary, secondary and volatile plant metabolites by chromatography - mass spectrometry based analyses (HPLC-, LC-, GC-MS)
  • Identification and structure elucidation of metabolites via MS/MS
  • Separation and fractionation of metabolites from complex plant matrices
  • Laboratory and green house tests of specific metabolites, extracts and plants for repellent and inhibitory activity against pests and pathogens
  • Metabolite analysis of wild potato species and cultivated potato within the LEADER cooperation project (https://www.julius-kuehn.de/aktuelles/aktuell/news/projektstart-leader-will-kartoffeln-gegen-eingeschleppte-schadinsekten-wappnen/); integration of metabolite data in the data records of LEADER partners, e.g. genomic data, leaf and leaf surface structure analysis, pest development analysis.

Scientific CV

  • Since 2021: PostDoc in the DFG-project “Resistance-orientated breeding of potato against the neobiotic pests Leptinotarsa decemlineata und Epitrix spp. (LEADER)“
  • 2015 – 2021: Postdoc at the Leibniz Institute of Plant Biochemistry Halle; Metabolite profiling of wild potato species and their interaction with Phytophthora infestans, Metabolite profiling of 13C- labelled metabolites in Arabidopsis thaliana
  • 2013 – 2014: Postdoc Helmholtz Zentrum Munich; MALDI-MS Imaging of metabolites in tissue sections
  • 2009 – 2013: PhD thesis, Bielefeld University - Center for Biotechnology, Bielefeld; “Spatio-temporal investigation of the barley malting process by proteome, metabolome, and MALDI MS imaging analyses”
