• Head of the working group “Mycology and Plant Protection in Integrated and Organic Viticulture”
• Research on biology, epidemiology, diagnosis and control of fungal pathogens in viticulture
• Investigations on the functional biodiversity of grapevine mycobiomes
• Development and investigations on integrated and organic plant protection procedures
• Contribution to the development of edicts and legislative proposals; consultancy for the Federal Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection (BMEL), the European and Mediterranean Plant Protection Organization (EPPO), and the European Union (EU)
• Involvement in preparation of guidelines for efficacy tests with fungicides in viticulture as well as for pest risk analysis of invasive species
