• Taxonomy and molecular phylogeny of Basidiomycetes and Ascomycetes
• Isolation, maintenance and characterization of fungal cultures and their preparation for studies on their biologically active secondary metabolites
• Fermentation of fungi in small scale and bioreactors and extraction, and isolation of their secondary metabolites (e.g. by MPLC and prep. HPLC)
• Biological and physicochemical characterization of natural products using cell-bioassays (antimicrobial, cytotoxic, neutrotrophic activities)
